U20 AFCON 2025: My boys gave everything on the pitch to defeat Senegal – Ghana coach Desmond Ofei
Head coach of Ghana’s U20 team, Desmond Ofei was full of praise for his players on Monday night after their victory against Senegal’s U20 team at the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Nicknamed the Black Satellites, Ghana’s U20 team laboured to earn a hard-fought 1-0 win against the defending champions today in their second Group C game at the tournament.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Coach Desmond Ofei applauded the efforts of his players, stressing that they followed instructions and gave everything on the pitch to secure the three points.
“The boys followed the game plan, stayed organised, and gave everything on the pitch. That’s all you can ask for as a coach,” Coach Desmond Ofei said as quoted on the Ghana FA website.
Meanwhile, Coach Ofei has indicated that his team remains focused on fighting to secure qualification to the U20 FIFA World Cup.
“Our main goal is to qualify for the World Cup. That’s the focus. Each match and positive result takes us a step closer,” the Black Satellites coach said.
Ghana’s U20 team must now prepare for their final Group C game against the Central African Republic on May 8.
