U-20 WWCQ: Black Princesses coach Charles Simpson targets qualification ahead of final round clash against Uganda

Black Princesses head coach Charles Simpson has reiterated that they are aiming to qualify for the 2026 U-20 Women's World Cup scheduled to be hosted in Poland.

The U-20 Ghana female national team has qualified for the next round of the qualifiers following a 3-2 aggregate scoreline against South Africa.

The Black Princesses were held to a 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium but secured a hard-fought 1-0 win in the return leg in Johannesburg to book a place in the last round of the qualifiers.

With the team now set to face Uganda in the final round of the qualifiers, Charles Simpson says the team aims to secure qualification to the global showpiece.

“Well, our goal is to go to the World Cup, and South Africa posed to be a challenge for us, so we are extremely happy we could surpass them,” Simpson said after the game.

“Now we will have time to prepare and look at which one is our next opponent,” he added.

The final round will be contested over two legs in May 2026, with fixtures scheduled between May 1 and May 10.
