U-17 WWCQ: Believe in yourselves and play with courage – Andre Ayew charges Black Maidens ahead of Senegal tie

Former Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew has charged the Black Maidens to play with courage and belief ahead of their U-17 Women's World Cup qualifiers against Senegal.

Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team were held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Dakar last week.

The Black Maidens are currently preparing for the return leg this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Following an official visit to the team’s camp in Accra, Ayew commended the players but urged them to play with courage and belief against the Senegalese.

“Opportunities like these do not come around often, and I encourage you to play with courage, discipline and belief in your abilities,” the U-20 World Cup winner said during his address.

He also emphasised the importance of representing Ghana with pride, telling the players to trust the hard work they have put in throughout the campaign.

“You need to stay united, enjoy the moment and leave everything on the pitch. The entire country is behind you and believes you can qualify,” he added.

The winner of the tie will book a place for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Kick-off for the game is scheduled at 15:300 GMT.
