The Managing Director of Tullow Oil Ghana, Mr Kweku Awotwi has been promoted.
He is now the Executive Vice-President of the Group.
This follows the re-organisation of the Group’s structure.
Mr Awotwi is the first Ghanaian to occupy that position.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Class Business’ Pious Kojo Backah, Mr Awotwi said: “This is a reflection of the journey the company has been on. Ten years ago, there was no oil and gas capacity in the country, we’ve built that up over the last 10, eleven years and we’re at the place where the company feels that it can be run by Ghanaians and I do have a lot of experience from other industries – energy, power, mining.
“At the end of the day, organisations don’t bring in people they don’t expect to perform. It is also a reflection of the journey the company has been on. Tullow has always had a commitment to localise and bring in Ghanaians across the board. The leadership team, five of the eight leaders are Ghanaians, so, it’s very much reflective of that commitment. What it means is that Ghana has a say at the top…”
