Think Prison 360 Degrees Agenda Launched in Tamale

The Ghana Prison Service has launched a new initiative dubbed Think Prison 360 Degrees in Tamale. The project seeks to modernize and rebrand prison services across the country, transforming the welfare of both officers and inmates.
The colorful launch ceremony brought together stakeholders in the security sector, government officials, and civil society groups.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, said the initiative is anchored on nine main pillars, including welfare, agricultural mechanization, modernization, industrial hub, and wealth creation.
She explained that the program is expected to improve working and living conditions for officers and inmates, provide enhanced healthcare, and introduce skill development programs to better prepare inmates for reintegration into society.
Agricultural mechanization was highlighted as a major component of the project, with plans to develop prison farms using modern tools and technology. According to the Service, this will boost food production, reduce dependence on external suppliers, and generate income for the state.
Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie further encouraged officers to wear their uniforms with pride and perform their duties with passion. She also appealed to Ghanaians to support the initiative by patronizing Made-in-Prison products.
