Swiss Prosecutor clears CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba of wrongdoing
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that its General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, will not face legal action following an investigation by the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office into payments made to bank accounts in Switzerland.

Mosengo-Omba, who holds dual citizenship in DR Congo and Switzerland, denied any misconduct and voluntarily met with the prosecutor in Fribourg in November 2024.
He clarified that the payments in question were related to “remuneration and bonus” received from CAF since his appointment in 2021.
He maintained that these transactions were made in “full transparency” and “full compliance with CAF statutes.”
The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has since concluded its preliminary investigation, finding no grounds to pursue the matter further.
CAF welcomed the decision, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to ethics, transparency, and governance under the leadership of President Patrice Motsepe.
Mosengo-Omba, who was appointed following Motsepe’s election, has previously spoken about efforts to address governance issues within CAF, describing the organization as “toxic” before their administration.
CAF reiterated its dedication to improving integrity within African football, expressing satisfaction with the decision and reaffirming its focus on maintaining a culture of accountability.
The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has yet to comment on the case.
