The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) chairman of Tiyumba School, Engineer Dennis K, Donkor has made a passionate appeal to the Municipal Chief Executive of Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu to support the school with a six (6) unit classroom block as well as computers to help furnish their already existing computer laboratory.
According to him though the PTA has played a vital role in boosting the infrastructure situation of the school over the years, much is left to be desired due to the growing trend of non-payment of PTA dues.
This was made known during the Tiyumba Debate and Drama Club 10th anniversary celebration.
Engineer Dennis Donkor further appealed to colleague parents and other organizations to support the PTA to deliver its mandate.
In his welcome address the Head teacher of the school Chief Justice Sulley indicated that the club was set up to train interested pupils to help model their students for the future.
He called on WAEC to disqualifier 15 students of the school who with the support of their parents registered illegally with other institutions to write their BECE prematurely.
This according to him will deter others who have similar intentions.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, indicated that there is a deficit in girl child representation in the country and tasked the girls to dedicate themselves to hard work to change the status-quo.
The Tiyumba Debate and Drama Club is a platform created in 2009 for the pupils to engage themselves in co-curricular activities such as drama, debate, poetry, singing, model parliament among others activities.
