The Savanna Business Group (SBG) has over the weekend donated assorted items worth Millions of Ghana to the Tamale Central Prisons, in the Northern Region.

The gesture forms part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of supporting the needy and vulnerable in society.

The items donated included Medical Supplies, Sanitary pads, Toiletries, Buckets, Assorted Drinks and bags of clothing.

Others were bags of Cement and other building materials to help furnish the Tamale Central Prison.

Mr. Marvin Senanu Akyea Spokesperson for the Savanna Business Group, indicated that they saw the need to support the inmates and carried a need assessment which gave them an idea of what the beneficiaries needed.

Mr. Akyea indicated that SBG has in the past made some donations to orphanages, deprived communities and built the capacity of the youth in various fields.

He further made a call on all Ghanaians to play a part in their own little way, to make Ghana what it should be, rather than always expecting in authority to do so.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Francis Weignam, Acting Chaplain in charge of Tamale Prison, who received the items on behalf of the Prison, expressed the gratitude of the inmates and the entire prison to the Group.

He commended the SBG for the kind gesture, adding that the prisoners will benefit from the donations made to them.

ASP Weingam further made an appeal to other non-governmental organizations to support the prison.

Their visit, was also to interact with the inmates and assess how best the Group and other entities could come to their aid.

The Savanna Business Group (SBG) is made up of young corporate individuals based in Tamale, who have the common drive of making impact in the lives of people and building the capacity of the youth.
