Saboba DCE confirmed by assembly members

President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Saboba District, George Bingrini, has been confirmed as DCE by assembly members. George Bingrini polled 34 votes, representing 91.87% against the 3 that voted against his nomination.

The Saboba District Assembly has 39 assembly members, but 37 members were present at the confirmation ceremony at the district assembly hall.

George Bingrini in a victory speech expressed delight over his election, and thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and re-nominating him.

He also thanked the assembly members for confirming his nomination.

“I am overwhelmed and do not even know how to express my happiness. Though it has not been an easy battle, it has been a battle of confidence, hope and that is what has brought me this victory”

He assured the people of Saboba that he would work hard to address the challenges in the district.

“I want to assure the people of Saboba that I will continue with my hard work to ensure that the challenges are fixed. I have met with the Minister of Roads, and he assured me that the contractor would be sent back.”

Before his confirmation, some residents in the district called on him to ensure that roads in the area are fixed when he gets the nod.

“Our main challenge is our road network here. In Saboba, every year we are cut off from the rest of the country, affecting the lives of people in the district. We want him to tackle the fixing of the roads, especially the main Yendi- Kpalba -Saboba road.”

“The DCE should ensure that fixing of Saboba roads becomes his priority. The roads are our main challenge.”

Sanitation in the district capital is also another main challenge. Residents of Saboba zongo, a suburb of Saboba town, complain of constant flooding of the area anytime it rains. The residents want the construction of a proper drainage system.

“Here at Saboba Zongo, Sanitation is our main challenge. We are appealing to the DCE to ensure that a proper drainage system is constructed in the area.”

“The main challenge here is the abandoned toilet project. It has been turned into a dumpsite and people defecate all over. Any time it rains, our houses are flooded with human excreta. We fear there could be an outbreak of disease if nothing is done. We are appealing to the DCE to fix it for us”.

On his part, the newly confirmed DCE assured residents that their concerns would be addressed. He said a monthly clean-up exercise will be instituted.

“In our last meeting, we have instituted some measures to tackle sanitation in the district. We are going to institute a clean-up exercise every month to address the issue”.
