Relocate or face decongestion- Mayor to Traders under Interchange

The mayor of Tamale Mr. Sule Salifu has on Wednesday March 2,2022, visited the Tamale interchange project site to ascertain the progress of work at the site and see for himself how the final work is turning out.

Upon arrival the initially harmless visit turned sketchy when the mayor noticed that traders have  resorted to occupying the pavement of the highway as their marketing place, even before the completion of work .

He expressed displeasure at the actions of these traders indicating that occupying that area for business purposes will be detrimental to the beautification of the city.

The mayor and his task force cleared the area off all tables that the traders left behind, to make way for work to continue.

He is meanwhile calling on traders who are perching along the road, to relocate to the kukuo market where there is enough space to accommodate them all .

He further ordered for  a notice to be served owners of some structures that are sited beneath the interchange, from the former zenith bank building to the taxi rank area, to relocate or be evacuate in a month time.

Mr. Sule Salifu has revealed that a full blown decongestion exercise from the Dakpema stretch through to the ADB bank, will commence in April, to clear the area appropriately.
