The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take full control of delegates’ accommodation and feeding ahead of its national executive elections to prevent candidates from camping delegates, the Chairperson of the party’s Organisation Committee, Anthony Karbo, has said.
Mr Karbo said the arrangement is part of measures by the National Elections Committee to ensure an orderly and transparent election process by limiting candidates’ ability to keep delegates at preferred locations ahead of the polls.
“I think it will be extremely difficult for anybody to camp delegates because we are taking full control of the accommodation and feeding,” he said.
Mr Karbo made the remarks in an interview with Citi News’ Hanson Agyemang ahead of the NPP’s national executive elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.
He explained that delegates arriving in Kumasi on Friday will be accommodated at designated facilities, with most of the arrangements secured at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He said candidates will still be able to meet delegates at their hostels, but the centralised accommodation arrangements will prevent them from keeping delegates together as part of organised campaign activities.
The committee has also made arrangements for feeding, security, media and traffic management ahead of the elections.
Mr Karbo said the committee is targeting a 9am start and intends to expedite voting, counting, declaration and the swearing-in of the newly elected executives to allow delegates to return home without remaining in Kumasi until the early hours of the following day.
