Operation Father Christmas, a police operation that is to among other things, ensure that the police are readily on hand to protect lives and properties and also maintain law and order throughout the yuletide season has been launched in the Upper East Region.
Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East, the Upper East Regional Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP David Fianko explained that more police officers have been retrained and deployed around the region; thus increasing visibility.
The Police Command, ASP Fianko said, has begun engagements with communities, and religious organisations on crime prevention and security awareness during the festive period.
“We are also embarking on massive public education crime prevention especially on highway and residential robberies,” he explained adding that a full implementation of the programme will be seen on Monday, December 20, 2021.
The public education is expected to cover the prevention of robberies and processes to alert the Service in times of distress.
