Nuku studio opens to nurture photography talents in the Northern Ghana

On Monday July 18,2022 Northern Ghana witnessed the opening of an ultramodern Nuku studio complex and exhibition of photographs of artisanal and small scale gold miners .

The images which gives a clear expression of the current life and future of people in the mining sector, intends to stimulate a true reflection of the life of these miners to the outside world.

In an interview with FiilaNews, Nii Obodai, the Director of Nuku studio noted that tamale as an intersecting city to other neighboring countries is a best place to nurture the youth  in photography.

He noted that though the Covid 19 pandemic has delayed their coming to the Tamale township, it is time to explore this photography skill to benefit the masses .

Mr.Obodai meanwhile appealed to members of the public who wish to take photography as a profession, to seek the right training and resources at NUKU studios to better their livelihoods and offer them the best practical knowledge in the field.

He is optimistic Nuku studio is going to be the most important learning centers for photography as an art and to help evolve the practice.

Nuku studio opened with an exhibition of photographs of small scale miners from selected communities within Ghana .

In an interview with Madam Lamisi Nsorsakiya a small scale miner from the upper East region, she stated that unemployment rates in the country is the major factor that led to their involvement in small scale mining.

For Madam Lamisi if government should ban small scale miner from doing their work, it will be a very difficult call to heed as they won’t be able to cater for their families.

she is thus appealing to state authorities to be considerate to their plight as unemployed citizens.
