NPP Deputy Northern Regional Women Organizer Sacked

Hajia Fati Mohammed, the deputy Northern Regional Women Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party has been sacked from her position. The reason for this decision by the party in the region remains sketchy.

However, the Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mohammed Baantima Samba, in a letter obtained by THE CUSTODIAN has appointed Hajia Feruza Baba Ibrahim to serve the remaining period of the four year tenure of the current executives.

Mr Baantima Samba in the letter address to Hajia Feruza stated, “Pursuant to article 7(4)(ii) of the New Patriotic Party Constitution as amended, the Regional Executive Committee appoints you to serve as the Deputy Regional Women Organizer of the party for the remaining period of the four year term effective 11th January, 2021.”

“We are optimistic that you will avail your time and resource in the diligent discharge of the duties required of you as a Deputy Regional Women Organizer to the party at all times in the region. Please accept compliments from the Regional Chairman” the letter added.

Meanwhile, in an interaction with the Northern Regional Correspondent of THE CUSTODIAN, Hajia Fati Mohammed said she was still at post.

In her defense, the embattled deputy women organizer said she has served the party diligently since her appointment in 2018.

“I’m still at post, nobody has given me letter dismissing me from my position; I’m still the deputy women organizer. I have been loyal to Hajia Rahana, because she recommended me for the appointment but I cannot tell what has happened.” she emphasized.

Beyond politics, Hajia Fati indicated she has been friends with her immediate boss, the NPP Regional Women Organizer for several years.

Bad blood in NPP

In a related development, the Northern Regional Women’s Organizer of the NPP, Hajia Rahana Aziz, on a Tamale based radio station during an interview, allegedly attacked the Northern Regional Coordinator of the School Feeding Program who doubles as the 2nd Vice Chairperson of the NPP in the region, Felicia Tetteh.

The Regional Women Organizer in the said interview asked Madam Felicia to leave the region and return to her hometown since she is not from Dagbon.

A section of the party youth in the region has condemned the comments of Hajia Rahana, describing it as tribal bigotry and therefore urged the party leadership to intervene in the matter.

The youth maintained such utterances is a recipe for disunity in the NPP and the hierarchy of the party must not allow such conduct from senior party members.

The Northern Regional Women Organizer and the Northern Regional School Feeding Coordinator have been battling each other over the school feeding program coordinator position since 2017.
