NPP Canada Chapter calls for reconciliation, unity after national elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Regina Chapter in Canada has called on the party’s newly elected national executives to prioritise reconciliation and reach out to defeated candidates and their supporters following the party’s national elections.
The chapter said in a statement on Sunday, October 4, that the election should mark the beginning of a process of healing and renewed unity rather than deepen divisions within the party.
“As with every competitive election, disagreements may arise, and some words or actions may unintentionally offend fellow party members,” the chapter said in a statement signed by its Acting Secretary, Stephen Darko.
It urged the new leadership to “embrace humility, reconciliation, and inclusiveness”, adding that where necessary, party leaders should apologise, mend relationships and reach out to fellow contestants and their supporters.
“The election is over; it is now time to unite and work together,” the chapter said.
The Greater Regina Chapter also called on members to put aside individual ambitions and prioritise the interests of the NPP and Ghana as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
“This is a time for unity, healing, and collective action but not division or exclusion. We must put individual ambitions aside and place the interests of the NPP and Ghana above all else,” it said.
The chapter congratulated the newly elected national officers and commended the election committee for organising what it described as a credible, peaceful and competitive election.
It also praised delegates, candidates, campaign teams and supporters for their conduct during the electoral process.
The diaspora chapter pledged its full support to the new national leadership and said it was prepared to contribute its “time, ideas, resources, and energy” towards strengthening the party ahead of 2028.
“The road ahead will require commitment, sacrifice, discipline, and unity. Let us therefore close ranks and work together to regain the confidence and support of the Ghanaian people,” the statement said.
