NORTHERN REGION MUSLIM COUNCIL MOURNS FLOOD VICTIMS, CALLS FOR NATIONAL UNITY

The Northern Region Muslim Council has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the devastating floods that struck Accra and other parts of Ghana on June 29, 2026.
The Council offered prayers for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and asked for strength and comfort for the bereaved families, especially orphans, widows, and widowers affected by the tragedy.
It also appealed to philanthropists, corporate organizations, and the general public to support flood victims, stressing that government intervention alone will not be sufficient to meet the humanitarian needs of those affected.
While commending the government for its swift response to the disaster, the Council urged authorities to implement long-term measures to address the persistent flooding problem. It emphasized the need for improved drainage infrastructure, proper urban planning, and effective enforcement of environmental regulations to prevent future disasters.
The Council further appealed to Ghanaians to refrain from politicizing the tragedy and instead unite in finding lasting solutions to the country’s recurring flood challenges.
It also called on citizens to adopt responsible environmental practices, particularly by avoiding the dumping of refuse into drains and helping to keep drainage systems free of waste to reduce the risk of future flooding.
