National Teams need a well-functioning Management Committee to succeed – Fred Pappoe
The former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Fred Pappoe has emphasized the importance of a well-functioning Management Committee for the success of the national teams.

His comments come after the GFA announced the formation of a new Management Committee for the Black Stars, following the dissolution of the previous committee led by Mark Addo.
This move followed the senior national team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Despite the criticisms, Mr Pappoe firmly believes that effective Management Committees are crucial for the smooth operation of both football and national teams.
“A well-functioning Management Committee is relevant for the running of our football or national teams but if the members are not committed, they will be there only in name,” he told Sporty FM.
Pappoe also outlined the key responsibilities of a well-run Management Committee.
“The duties of the Management Committee include organization, planning, preparation, camping, accommodation, counselling and support the technical team.”
The newly appointed Management Committee for the Black Stars includes Dr Randy Abbey, an Executive Council member of the GFA, who will chair the committee and lead engagements with the government and other stakeholders.
Stephen Appiah, former Black Stars captain, will serve as Vice-Chairman and focus on player relations while assisting Dr. Abbey.
Other members of the committee are Samuel Aboabire, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and an Executive Council member of the GFA, and Moses Armah, President of Medeama Sporting Club. Aboabire and Armah will oversee operations and matchday activities, ensuring the interests of sponsors, partners, and collaborators are well represented. Richard Nsenkyire, President of FC Samartex 1996, will handle special duties as a committee member.
