Nabdam youth disappointed over rejection of Agnes Anamoo as DCE; blame NPP Chairman

Some youth in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region have express their disappointment over the failure of the Assembly to confirm Agnes Anamoo as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

The angry youth who spoke to A1 News at the premises of the Nabdam District Assembly after the President’s nominee Mrs. Anamoo failed to obtain the required number of votes to approve her by law as DCE for the area, blamed the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the situation.

According to them, the Regional Chairman of the governing party, Anthony Namoo, failed to mobilize and convince the Assembly Members in the  district where he is said to come from; to approve the nominee, leading to the rejection of Mrs. Anamoo.

Meanwhile, some of the Youth also believe that, they were some influential members of the party within the district who campaign against Mrs. Anamoo’s continuation as the DCE for Nabdam.

Madam Agnes Anamoo who is one of the 5 Municipal and District Chief Executives, President Akufo-Addo retained in the region polled 12 YES votes out of the 19 Assembly Members present.

An official of the Electoral Commission who conducted the election explained that per the law; if the President does not withdraw the nomination of Mrs. Anamoo, there shall be a second election to be conducted in 10 days for her approval or otherwise.
