N/R: 3 major mosque’s suspend Friday’s prayers over COVID-19

Three Major Mosque’s in the Northern region has today Wednesday 18, 2020 suspend all Friday’s prayers until further notice.

The resolution was reached at the Tamale Central Mosque this morning, with representative from the Ambariya and Masjidul Bayan mosque respectively.

Secretary to the Chief Imam of Northern region, Sheikh Gazale after the meeting with the Islamic scholars told NorthernWebGh.com that, the decision is inline with the teachings of the holy prophet.

He narrated that, the prophet once directed Muslims to pray at home, when calamity engulf the city of Mecca.

“During the time of the prophet, there was heavy rain and strong wind in Saudi Arebia, the prophet directed everyone to pray in the house, this is the same reason why Muslims should respect the directives of the president by not gathering at one particular place during this period”

He said, the mosque leadership cannot control the usual Friday’s large crown, so it’s imperative to adhere to the president directives in order to prevent the deadly virus.

He revealed that, the various mosques in the region will be observing special prayer’s for Allah’s mercy against the coronavirus.

Sheikh Gazale therefore appealed to Muslims to be circumspect during the five daily prayer’s.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service yesterday confirmed another case of COVID-19, bringing the total number of recorded cases to seven.

According to the Service’s website, the latest was recorded in the Greater Accra Region.

“The case-patient is a 35-year-old male, a Ghanaian citizen, who returned to Accra from France within the past 14 days,” the statement said.

The statement said the latest case is also an imported one and is “being managed in isolation and he is in stable condition.”

Today’s revelation also provided details on the extent of contact-tracing undertaken so far following Sunday’s announcement.
