MTN Ghana celebrates Christmas with New borns

MTN Ghana has spread Christmas cheer in Tamale by honouring babies born on Christmas Day with gift hampers at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Tamale West Hospital.

The initiative forms part of MTN’s annual Christmas tradition of recognising newborns delivered on December 25 and celebrating the mothers who bring them into the world.
Speaking during the presentation, Mohammed Shayawu, a representative of MTN Ghana, said the company marks Christmas each year by identifying babies born on the day and supporting their families.
He noted that this year, MTN is distributing more than 700 hampers nationwide across all 16 regions, with selected regional hospitals benefitting from the gesture.
- “We are here once again to keep one of our heartwarming traditions of recognising babies born on Christmas Day and the wonderful mothers who gave birth to them. This year, we are donating 700 hampers across the country, and in Tamale, we are supporting the Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Tamale West Hospital,” he said.
- Mr. Shayawu explained that the initiative is part of MTN’s commitment to delighting its customers and appreciating stakeholders within the health sector for their continuous support.
- At the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Midwife Fauzia Adam described the occasion as a joyous moment for staff at the labour ward, particularly as all deliveries were successful without any stillbirths.
- “From the dawn of the 25th to the end of the day, we are always very happy when we deliver mothers without stillbirths. It is a blessing when both mothers and babies are healthy. Even those admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit are doing quite well,” she said.
- In total, 16 babies, nine boys and seven girls, were delivered at the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Christmas Day.
- Meanwhile, at the Tamale West Hospital, Senior Midwife Rahama Yakubu, who received the items on behalf of the mothers, said the donation had brought smiles to the faces of families.
- She revealed that eight babies, five boys and three girls, were born at the facility on December 25.
- “This presentation has really put smiles on the faces of the mothers. It is not easy starting motherhood, and these items will go a long way to support them. They are very grateful and happy,” she noted.
- The Christmas Day baby hampers initiative has become a signature MTN Ghana programme, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community support and shared moments of joy during the festive season.
