The newly sworn in Mayor of Tamale, Mr Sule Salifu has outlined some key areas he would address with urgency as he assume office yesterday Thursday (7th October, 2021).
Paramount on his list is the the issue of faulty streetlights in the metropolis which has contributed to so many nefarious activities in the metropolis.
The Mayor made this known after the official induction of the MMDCEs in the northern region which saw them take an oath of office and oath of secrecy and Quranic recitation yesterday to official begin work following their successful confirmations.
In this view , Mr Sule Salifu noted the issue requires urgent intervention from city authorities to brighten the metropolis.
He further outlined the acts of indiscipline and lawlessness that has bedeviled the metropolis stating that, “I will be engaging with the security agencies to see what plans they would be mapping out to ensure we nib the situation to the bud”.
To decongest the Greater Tamale, the Mayor added there is so much congestion within the central business district of the northern regional capital and assured his administration in collaboration with the assembly members and the traditional leaders will take steps to address it.
To officially start the day, the MCE held his first ever meeting today with Heads of the various Departments and the Staff of the Metropolitan Assembly.
He is expected from today Friday (October 8, 2021) to hold his maiden meeting with members of the Metropolitan Security Committee (MESEC) to introduce himself as the new Chairman of the committee.
