MASIA FAMILY HOSPITAL COMMISSIONED AT TUGU TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE ACCESS

The Masia Family Hospital, located at Tugu along the Yendi road in the Northern Region, has officially been commissioned and opened to the general public.

The facility, accredited by both the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Tugu and surrounding communities.
The newly inaugurated hospital boasts a comprehensive range of services, including a general Outpatient Department (OPD), surgical services, antenatal and postnatal care, endoscopy, 24-hour emergency services, laboratory services, ultrasound, labour ward services, ECG, and child welfare services.
Specialized units at the facility include an eye clinic, obstetrics and gynaecology, and infertility services.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Founder of the hospital, Dr. Richard Opoku, recounted the inspiration behind establishing the facility at Tugu. He explained that the vision was born out of a strong conviction he felt each time he drove along the stretch, believing the community deserved accessible and quality healthcare.

“I came to Tamale to work, not to play. Working for my people is working for God… Almost every day I would tell them I would go private and go far away—to the people,” he said.
He added that it took ten years of dedication to complete the project, assuring the public that the hospital’s standards would match those of the renowned God’s Care Community Hospital.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Gifty Opoku described the commissioning as a testament to community support, shared responsibility, and a renewed hope for improved healthcare delivery.

“This hospital was established with a clear purpose—to provide accessible, compassionate, and quality health care delivered with professionalism, dignity, and respect for human life. Masia Family Hospital is more than a building; it is a vision brought to life,” she emphasized.
She called for continuous partnership with traditional authorities, faith leaders, and health stakeholders to promote wellness and save lives.
The Chief of Tugu, Naa Andani Mahama, expressed gratitude to the management of Masia Family Hospital for choosing his community. He urged them to consider training the youth of Tugu to become future health professionals.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Nana Kwame Opoku assured the public that the hospital would maintain high standards of care comparable to God’s Care Community Hospital.
“Our slogan is ‘trusted care, God-centered service.’ We are going to give care like how God would have given us care. Our standards will be maintained throughout the years,” he said.
The commissioning ceremony drew community leaders, health professionals, and residents, marking a significant milestone in the quest to make quality healthcare more accessible to underserved communities in the Northern Region.
