Mahama urges chiefs to call out NPP government on abandoned projects

Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged chiefs and traditional leaders to be bold and call out the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the many projects they have abandoned.

He insists the Akufo-Addo-led government is not paying the contractors; resulting in the projects being left uncompleted.

“If you are saying it, point to them since it’s this government that has left projects uncompleted all over the place. It’s this particular government that we have seen this huge number of abandoned projects because they are not paying the contractors”, Mr. Mahama told the chiefs.

He was speaking at the Bono Regional House of Chiefs as part of his thank-you tour of the region on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

The NPP government has been accused of failing to complete or use some projects started by the Mahama government, an accusation they have denied.

“If by God’s grace and the NDC comes to power in 2025, we will continue all projects they have started because the money involved is not from Nana Akufo-Addo’s pocket, rather it’s our tax”.

The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu, also referred to educational, health, and housing projects such as the Saglemi housing projects, which he insists if completed, could ease the accommodation challenges of the Ghanaian workers, including soldiers, judges, and head porters.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu, who doubles as the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, said the political parties would have to assure Ghanaians that when they get the chance to govern the country, they would ensure such completed and uncompleted facilities would be put to good use to the benefit of the citizens.
