President John Dramani Mahama has called on governments, global health organisations, development finance institutions, philanthropic organisations and private sector players to join Ghana’s efforts to transform the recommendations of the Accra Reset into concrete actions at the country level.
The President said the initiative would require broad collaboration among governments and key stakeholders in the global health and development sectors to build sustainable systems capable of responding to health challenges while strengthening local capacity.
President Mahama made the call while speaking at a high-level side event on the Accra Reset held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The event provided a platform for discussions on global development and health cooperation, including ways to translate policy recommendations into practical interventions that can deliver lasting benefits for countries and their populations.
President Mahama said Ghana, together with the Presidential Council, would in the coming months begin a process of engaging a wide range of stakeholders to develop country-level compacts based on the recommendations emerging from the Accra Reset.
He said the proposed engagements would bring together governments, global health institutions, development finance organisations, philanthropies and private sector actors to identify practical areas for cooperation and implementation.
“Over the coming months, Ghana and the Presidential Council will convene governments, global health bodies, development finance institutions, philanthropies, and the private sector to translate these recommendations into country-level compacts.
“We invite strategic partners, from Brazil’s Fiocruz to leading institutions in India, Indonesia, the Gulf, and across Africa, to partner with us. We want to build self-sustaining networks that connect research, regulatory oversight, local manufacturing, and reliable distribution.”
