Kwabre East MP condemns alleged detention of BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Onyina-Akyeampong Akwasi Gyamfi, has condemned the alleged detention of two Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates by the headmaster of their school.
The students, from the Big Six Educational Complex in Meduma—a private school in the Kwabre East Municipality—were reportedly locked in a classroom on Monday and prevented from taking their first exam paper.
Reports indicate that the headmaster confined the candidates due to unpaid school fees and their refusal to participate in a school-organised pre-exam camp.
In an interview with Citi News, the MP said he had lodged a formal complaint with the police.
“I am personally interested in this matter. I have sent a report to the crime officer, and I want the individual involved to be held accountable for his actions. I understand that a similar incident occurred at the same school last year, so I intend to pursue this case seriously,” he said.
