It is in the right direction – GoldStars CEO Akwasi Adu backs GFA presidential term limit proposal

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bibiani Gold Stars, Akwasi Adu, has backed the proposal of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to extend the term limit of its president.

Last week, the country’s football governing body announced that they have received approval from FIFA to extend the presidential limit from two to three to fit the same practice as the highest governing body, as well as CAF.

This comes ahead of the FA’s 31st Ordinary Congress scheduled for Tuesday, August 12 at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence in Prampram.

With some administrators already protesting against the decision, Adu, speaking to Sporty FM, rallied his support behind the proposed initiative ahead of the GFA’s upcoming congress.

“The proposal to extend the term limit of the GFA president to three is a step in the right direction, not an imposition,” he said.

The proposed amendment could potentially impact the current GFA President, Kurt Okraku, who has already served one term. Kurt, who is serving his second term, might be eligible to serve another extending his tenure beyond the current eight-year limit.
