Sawla-Tuna-Kalba NPP polling station executives ‘fight’ DCE over internal elections

The recently elected polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District are up in arms against their District Chief Executive and others over their elections.

They accuse the DCE, Barikisu Losina to be behind a number of petitions against their elections and warned that they will resist attempts to undermine the election process.

The executives in a statement said the aggrieved aspirants of constituency executive elections being used to undermine the elections failed to monitor the process only to be calling for re-election.

“A group of aspirants for constituency executive positions have petitioned to discredit the recently compiled album and finally call for re-election. Their strategy is to remove the recently elected polling station executives by using money to influence a new album compilation.”

“These petitioners refused to monitor the election only to turn round and rubbish it. Those who showed interest in the process can testify that it was a free and fair election.”

They say they will “not allow any group to try to use any method to discredit or change the new album for us. We were properly selected or elected to represent our polling stations.”

WE SHALL RESIST ALL ATTEMPTS BY SAWLA DCE AND COLLABORATORS TO UNDERMINE OUR ELECTION AS POLLING STATION EXECUTIVES

Good day Ladies and Gentlemen.
We take this opportunity to congratulate all newly elected and selected constituency polling station executives for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region.

We also thank the Constituency Polling Station Election Committee for a good job done without fear or favour.
Ladies and gentlemen, it has come to our attention that a group of aspirants for constituency executive positions have petitioned to discredit the recently compiled album and finally call for re-election. Their strategy is to remove most elected polling station executives by using money to influence a new album compilation.
Ladies and gentlemen, these petitioners refused to monitor the election, only to turn round and rubbish it. Those who showed interest in the process can testify that it was a free and fair election.

In their weak and hollow petitions, they raised some issues which we want to state as a matter of public knowledge:

  1. The group alleged that they could not get the album. At the time they demanded a copy of the register, it was not completed because the pasting of pictures on the results forms was ongoing. As we speak now, a copy has been handed over to the Constituency Executive, Regional, and National Secretariats of the New Patriot Party.
  2. The petitioners intentionally lied on issues of distribution of forms. All old executives were given forms, but some declined to continue as officers because of personal reasons.
  3. All polling stations without election were a result of an agreement among party members at such stations. Why then will people sit at Sawla and force an election on people who had agreed not to go into an election?
  4. Our checks and reliable investigations show there are no election problems at some polling stations mentioned. Soma and Disaburi have no issues as portrayed. Yipala has threatened the committee never to set foot there. The committee agreed to maintain the old executives while the matter is resolved when tempers calm.
In conclusion, we wish to state clearly that we shall not allow any group to try to use any method to discredit or change the new album for us. We were properly selected or elected to represent our polling stations. Why will some aspirants under the influence of Hon. Losina Barikisu (DCE) try to make our election illegal?

We urge such aspirants to sell their message to the delegates and stop this divisive tendency. They must be reminded that they have no right to select polling station executives as they are thinking.
We shall resist any attempt to undermine our right as the grassroots base of the party.
Thank you.
