“I want to help young players stay on the right path” – Kevin-Prince Boateng on his transition to agent

Former Ghana star Kevin-Prince Boateng has played for some of the sport's biggest clubs - AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur, Hertha BSC, and the Black Stars, with pride.

Today, having retired from professional football, the amiable former midfielder is channeling his passion and experience into something new: helping shape the future of football through his own agency, Rookie & Champ.

Reflecting on his transformation, Boateng told TransferRoom,

“Thanks for calling me a top player. It’s been years I didn’t get to hear that.” He laughed but straight away added meaning.

“When I was still playing for Hertha, I was thinking – what am I gonna do later on? I always dreamt of being a coach, but then I realized I don’t have enough patience.”

That realization took him down a different but important path.

“I wanna assist young players because I’ve had a lot of experience in my career. I had a lot of agents – some good, some bad – and I know how it can be. If you have the wrong advice, it can be really, really tough.”

Now, as a mentor and agent, Boateng is ready to protect the next generation of footballers from the traps that held him back.

“I just said I would love to help young players, get them on the right path, show them what counts, and keep them humble as much as possible.”

Rookie & Champ is not just another agency. It’s a mission-driven by an individual who’s lived the game at its best and knows what it takes to survive.
