I am eager to impress Frank Lampard – Brandon Thomas-Asante after promotion to Premier League

Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says he is determined to repay the support he has received from Coventry City manager Frank Lampard and his teammates after helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old striker played a key role in Coventry’s successful Championship campaign, which earned the Sky Blues a place in England’s top flight.

Lampard has been full of praise for Thomas-Asante throughout the season, and the forward says he appreciates the encouragement from his manager.

His performance earned him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, where the Black Stars exited at the Round of 32 after 1-0 loss against Colombia.

Thomas-Asante revealed that his Coventry teammates have kept in touch during the tournament and believes their support has contributed to his progress with the Black Stars.

“Yeah, they’ve been in touch,” Thomas-Asante told ESPN. “When the games are coming, there’ll be a little flurry of messages, which I’m very grateful for.

“It’s been such a successful year, and a lot of my teammates at club level are part of the reason why I’ve been able to come and play in this team and this squad.

“I called one of my friends from the pitch after the last game just to let him be there as well, but there’ll be nothing better than to bring home some extra silverware for them,” he added.

Coventry City will begin their Premier League campaign with a difficult trip to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, with Thomas-Asante, who assisted in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama, expected to play a key role in Lampard’s squad.
