Government not withdrawing CAP 30 for security services

The government has debunked rumours that it has withdrawn or intends to withdraw the current Pension Scheme for the police and other security services.

In a statement issued on Wednesday (February 26, 2020)  and signed by the Deputy Minister of Information, Mr Pius Enam Hadzide, it said the rumours were aimed at “courting disaffection for the government among the country’s gallant men and women in uniform.”

The statement called for utmost calm and restraint among security personnel and the general public and reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of the country’s security personnel.

The government also condemned in no uncertain terms attempts by unscrupulous persons to cause confusion within the ranks of the security services and urged the media to exercise great discretion and the highest ethical standards when reporting on security and related matters.
