Government is working towards achieving at least 10% renewable energy penetration by 2030 – Energy Minister

The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor has said that the government is working towards achieving at least 10% renewable energy penetration by 2030.

He said they remain committed to providing the policy, regulatory and investment support needed to accelerate clean energy development, strengthen our electricity grid and ensure a financially sustainable energy sector.

This must be complemented by improved revenue collection, prudent financial management and stronger payment discipline across the energy value chain to safeguard the sector’s long-term sustainability and enable continued investment in critical infrastructure.

He said this when he addressed the Annual Stakeholders Meeting of Bui Power Authority (BPA).

During the event, Dr Jinapor reflected on the Authority’s performance and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to building a resilient, sustainable and low-carbon energy sector.

BPA’s outstanding performance in 2025 including exceeding its clean energy generation target, expanding solar capacity, commissioning battery energy storage, recording strong financial results and maintaining an excellent safety record demonstrates the immense potential of Ghana’s renewable energy future.

He commended the Board, Management and Staff of the Bui Power Authority for their dedication and commitment.
