Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council apologizes to Hassan Tampuli

The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council, GRTCC, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon Hassan Tampuli, for a purported statement attributed to him in the aftermath of a recent meeting held at the instance of the leadership of Transport Operators at the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Deputy Minister.

The GRTCC further disassociates itself from a statement allegedly made by one David Agboado, a member of the Concern Drivers Union.

“Indeed, the Deputy Minister was invited to the said meeting which was attended by some coaltion members of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council and other Transport Unions” the statement observed.

General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council, Mr Emmanuel Ohene-Yeboah,  who sanctioned the news release, said the Deputy Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Gushegu in the northern region during the meeting explained the various taxes on the petroleum price build-up contrary to the statement speculated by Mr David Agboado in the public domain.

Accordingly, he vehemently stated the purported statement is malicious and should not be entertained.

Mr Ohene-Yeboah said the council will not allow some misguided elements who parade themselves as operators to use the organization to pursue their personal agenda other than the growth of the industry.

“We disassociate ourselves from the said statement and that Mr Agboado should be held responsible for his actions” he noted.
