EXCLUSIVE: Joseph Paintsil set for Black Stars return against Chad, Mali in World Cup qualifiers
Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil is on the verge of making a long-awaited return to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The LA Galaxy star has been out of the national team setup since September 2024 when he featured in Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
However, his consistent form in Major League Soccer this season has caught the attention of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who is set to hand him a recall for the crucial double-header.
Paintsil has been one of LA Galaxy’s standout performers, registering 8 goals and 2 assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this year.
His pace, direct dribbling, and ability to create chances from wide areas have made him a key figure for the MLS outfit, and Ghana will be hoping he can replicate that form on the international stage.
The Black Stars are aiming to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the fixtures against Chad and Mali expected to play a decisive role.
Paintsil’s return adds much-needed depth and attacking options to the squad as Ghana looks to secure maximum points.
Securing wins in the two games will Ghana book their ticket for the World’s biggest football tournament.
