EOCO denies false claims on Springfield Energy probe; cautions public against misinformation

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has issued a strong public statement, dated Sunday, November 2, 2025, refuting what it terms as “false and malicious claims” being circulated by a firm, reportedly Novareport, regarding an alleged criminal investigation into Springfield Energy/Group and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kevin Okyere.
The press release, emanating from EOCO’s headquarters, states clearly that claims suggesting the anti-crime agency has established a case of criminal conduct against the energy company or its CEO are entirely baseless and should be disregarded by the public.
Reports, which have gained traction across various media platforms, allegedly stem from claims made by Novareport that an EOCO investigation had determined wrongdoing by Springfield Energy.
EOCO has, however, countered this, asserting that these reports do not reflect the facts as known to the Office.
EOCO expressed serious concern over the unverified and malicious nature of the information being propagated. The office emphasized that its procedures for releasing official findings or making public pronouncements follow strict protocol.
The release advised the media and the general public to exercise caution and refrain from circulating the unverified information, which could potentially undermine the integrity of ongoing processes and damage the reputation of individuals and businesses.
EOCO reaffirmed its commitment to conducting thorough and impartial investigations into all cases brought before it. The office indicated that while it is aware of certain allegations related to Springfield Energy (likely referring to the pre-existing commercial dispute with an international partner, Petraco, as recently reported), it has not issued any official statement that confirms criminal liability on the part of the company or its CEO, Mr. Kevin Okyere, as falsely claimed by Novareport and subsequent media reports.
The public is therefore urged to rely solely on official communication channels from EOCO for accurate and factual updates on any investigation.
