President John Dramani Mahama has urged investors operating in Ghana to fully comply with the country’s laws, uphold high standards and create genuine opportunities for Ghanaian businesses and workers.
He said while government remains committed to creating a stable and enabling environment for businesses to invest, expand and succeed, investors must reciprocate by ensuring that their investments contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
The President made the remarks at the ceremonial sod-cutting of the $1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City Project in Accra.
He stressed that the success of major investments should not be measured only by the size of the facilities constructed, but also by the economic opportunities they create for Ghanaians.
“Government is ready to work with investors who make long-term commitments to Ghana. We will continue to strengthen the business environment and support investments that contribute meaningfully to our country’s development.
“In return, we expect investors to fully comply with our laws, uphold the highest standards, and create genuine opportunities for Ghanaian businesses and workers to participate,” he added
President Mahama urged that the local businesses, engineers, architects, artisans, technicians and suppliers be given meaningful opportunities to participate in major developments, while young people should benefit from apprenticeships, practical training and skills transfer.
