Catholic Archdiocese of Tamale Organises Easter Picnic.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Tamale, on Monday, 6 April, 2026, organised its Easter picnic which drew tens of hundreds of attendees to the 6 Infantry Battalion , Kamina Barracks, Tamale, in a colorful celebration of the resurrection of Christ.

The mammoth event, which is rotated among parishes in the Archdiocese each year, was hosted by Saints Peter and Paul Parish at Education Ridge, Tamale.
It was under the theme, “DO Not Be Afraid. Go And Proclaim The Resurrection.”
The picnic serves as a platform for unity, recreation, and spiritual renewal among Catholics, but it is was also attended by people of other faiths in a show of unity in diversity.

The picnic grounds came alive with a variety of activities such as music, dancing, fun games, children’s playgrounds, and sale of assorted wares and food.
Some parents also brought their families to celebrate and enjoy the occasion.
Additionally, some telecommunication and insurance companies were also present to promote their services, creating a lively and festive atmosphere for attendees who included the young and old.
These activities were preceded by Holy Mass, celebrated by the Vicar General, Very Reverend Father Hilary Pogbeyir, with the Metropolitan Archbishop Most Reverend Philip Naameh in attendance, alongside 27 priests.
Delivering the homily, Very Reverend Father Pogbeyir centred his message on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, urging Christians to uphold truth and integrity in their daily lives.
He referenced the biblical account of how women led by Mary Magdalene who were the first to witness the resurrection of Christ, truthfully narrated what they saw when they arrive at His tomb to His disciples.
He, therefore, urged Christians to speak the truth at all times as the women did in their account of the resurrection of Christ.
To emphasise this point, he appealed husbands and wives to practice the virtue of truth and honesty in their marriages.
Meanwhile, Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish at Lamashegu, wil host the 2027 Easter picnic.
