BoG assures content creators of support over payout challenges

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has assured Ghanaian content creators on X that the central bank is ready to support them in resolving challenges related to receiving payouts from digital platforms.

The assurance was given during an engagement with content creators at Bank Square on Wednesday, April 22, following the Bank’s April 20 statement addressing concerns over access to earnings from global digital platforms.

Dr. Asiama emphasised that the central bank values the work of content creators, comparing their contribution to traditional export sectors such as cocoa.

He noted that the Bank remains accessible to help resolve payout-related challenges.

“If you have any issues with your payouts, we are ready to help,” he said. “We are making ourselves accessible so that we can resolve all the issues that you have.”

He also encouraged content creators to form a structured association to enable coordinated engagement with regulators and ensure issues are addressed more efficiently.

According to him, the Bank is committed to supporting the sector and will take steps to ensure a smoother operating environment.

“We are interested in what you are doing and will do everything to facilitate your work,” he added.

The engagement further reaffirmed that, under existing foreign exchange regulations, proceeds from service exports can be received through foreign exchange accounts held with banks in Ghana or credited to Ghana cedi accounts, provided transactions comply with regulatory requirements.
