Black Satellites face Zambia in crucial pre-tournament friendly ahead of U-20 AFCON
As the clock ticks down to the start of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana’s Black Satellites are ramping up their preparations with a high-stakes friendly match against Zambia on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

The game is set to kick off at 6:00 PM local time at the Folip Gardens Hotel football grounds in Cairo, Egypt.
After two intensive days of training in the Egyptian capital, Coach Desmond Ofei and his technical team will be using this encounter to fine-tune their strategies and assess the squad’s readiness for the tournament.
The match provides a golden opportunity to experiment with formations, enhance team chemistry, and put tactical drills into practice under competitive conditions.
Zambia’s U-20 side, nicknamed the Junior Chipolopolo, are no pushovers.
With a strong record at youth level, including a memorable U-20 AFCON triumph in 2017 and FIFA U-20 World Cup appearances in 2007 and 2017, the Southern African giants promise to be a stern test for the Black Satellites.
Coached by Boyd Mulwanda, Zambia arrives with a well-balanced squad and a hunger to make an impact in Group A, which also features Egypt, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania.
For Ghana, the friendly will serve as a dress rehearsal ahead of their opening Group C clash against DR Congo on May 2.
