Black Queens to face Zambia in third round of LA 2028 Olympic qualifiers
Ghana’s Black Queens will face Zambia in the third round of the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament after both sides progressed from their second-round ties.

The Black Queens booked their place with an emphatic 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius, winning the second leg 7-0 at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi on Tuesday.
Ghana had taken a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Mauritius last Thursday before producing another dominant display on home soil to complete the rout.
Captain Portia Boakye, Evelyn Badu and Ajegipina Zakaria scored in the first half, while substitutes Benedicte Simon, Jennifer Cudjoe, Nancy Amoh and Mukarama Abdulai added four more goals after the break.
Zambia earned their place in the third round after defeating Uganda 5-3 on aggregate, setting up a meeting with Ghana as both teams continue their quest for Olympic qualification.
The third-round ties are scheduled to take place between February 23 and March 6, 2027. The eight aggregate winners will advance to the fourth round, scheduled for October 4-12, 2027.
The African qualifiers feature five knockout rounds, with the final four teams competing in the last stage from November 23 to December 4, 2027, to determine the continent’s two representatives at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
For the Black Queens, the upcoming tie against Zambia presents another important test as they seek to make history by qualifying for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament for the first time.
