Bibiani Gold Stars CEO Kwesi Adu hails club financiers as ‘magicians’ amid sponsorship crisis

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bibiani Gold Stars, Akwasi Adu, has commended the financiers of the Ghana Premier League clubs, describing them as magicians due to the lack of sponsorship.

The ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is expected to end without a headline sponsor.

Despite the challenges clubs go through, Adu expressed admiration for the behind-the-scenes efforts made by club managers and financiers to ensure fixtures are honoured each week.

“I should say this on behalf of all 18 Premier League clubs; the managers and financiers are magicians. Travelling across all regional boundaries without a sponsor is very difficult. We are all hoping to resolve this situation as quickly as possible,” Adu told Citi Sports.

Adu also confirmed that Bibiani Gold Stars are actively seeking a sponsorship deal ahead of next season, as the team continues its impressive run in the current campaign. The club currently sits at the top of the GPL table with 54 points.

“The competitive nature of this year’s title race, despite the challenges, should attract potential sponsors. We hope this will be a turning point for local football.”

Meanwhile, Bibiani GoldStars, who sit second on the pile, will look to extend their lead when they host Asante Kotoko next weekend at the DUN’s Park.
