Bawumia cannot deliver better than Mahama — Asiedu Nketiah

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged party supporters to remain loyal to the governing NDC and not place their hopes in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) or its 2028 presidential hopeful, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Mr Asiedu Nketiah, supporters who are frustrated or feel left out under the current administration must exercise patience rather than turning to the opposition.
He insisted that Dr Bawumia cannot provide solutions beyond what President John Dramani Mahama is already working to achieve.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the East Gonja Constituency on Thursday, May 14, the NDC Chairman cautioned supporters against believing that a future government led by Dr Bawumia would offer better opportunities.
“If Dr Bawumia becomes President, he can’t deliver what we need. Ours is the NDC, President Mahama is our President. Don’t think that if you queue at Bawumia’s office, you will be sorted out,” he said.
He stressed that the future of the party depends on the government’s performance and the continued support of its grassroots.
“Be patient with the government. Ghanaians will allow us to remain at the helm of affairs for a long time if we deliver, and this will help NDC supporters to get their share of the national cake,” he stated.
He acknowledged that while some party faithful may feel sidelined, it was important for supporters to stay committed to the party and avoid actions that could weaken the government.
“The party has its own issues, but we can’t say we are angry with the government. People who have been left out of the national cake should exercise patience,” he added.
His remarks come as the NDC leadership continues efforts to consolidate support within the party following the 2024 general elections and rally members behind the Mahama administration.
