Asantehene advocates for more financial resource allocation to the National House of Chiefs
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tuto II has advocated for more financial resource allocation to the National House of Chiefs to help in regulating the institution of Chieftaincy.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made these remarks when the Parliamentary Select Committee on Chieftaincy, Culture and Religious Affairs paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace to officially introduce the Committee and its mandate since its establishment in the 8th Parliament.
He welcomed the idea in establishing such a Committee in helping to deal with issues in Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs as well as extending his greetings to the Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
Considering the occurrence of chieftaincy disputes in recent times, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was of the view that, Chiefs must rule with truth, stressing that without truth there would be no understanding and peace and that will affect development.
In his introduction, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah acknowledged the wisdom and respect of the Asantehene in helping to settle long standing chieftaincy disputes for peace to prevail and create opportunities for development in various communities.
Dr. Asamoah who is also the MP for Offinso – North, used the opportunity to congratulate the Asantehene on his 27th anniversary on the Golden Stool.
The Members of the Committee also visited the Manhyia Palace Museum to observe and learn more about the history, culture and art of the Asante Kingdom.
