Asante Kotoko sign Congolese defender Aristote Tamuzi on two-year deal

Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of Congolese centre-back Aristote Tamuzi on a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The 27-year-old defender’s move to the Porcupine Warriors was confirmed on Friday after he successfully completed his medical examination in Kumasi.

Tamuzi joins from Congolese side AS New Soger and brings experience from a spell in Eswatini, where he established himself as a dependable defender.

The robust centre-back is expected to strengthen Kotoko’s defensive options, with his leadership, tackling ability and aerial strength among the qualities the club will hope he brings to the team.

Tamuzi has made more than 60 appearances over the past two seasons, highlighting his consistency and durability.

Speaking to Kotoko’s media team after completing his move, Tamuzi acknowledged the expectations that come with representing one of Africa’s most decorated clubs but said he was prepared to embrace the challenge.

“Asante Kotoko is a historical club in Africa and Ghana, and I am delighted to be here. I am aware of the pressure, but we will work hard to please the supporters. I am here to work.”

His arrival is another addition to Kotoko’s squad as they prepare for the new league campaign under head coach Eric Tinkler.

The Porcupine Warriors will begin their 2026/27 Premier League campaign away against newly promoted Debibi United, with the club targeting a strong challenge for domestic honours.

Before the league gets under way, Kotoko will face long-standing rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday as part of their preparations for the new season.
