Asante Kotoko appoint Dutch-Surinamese legend Stanley Menzo as Director of Football
Asante Kotoko have appointed former Ajax and Netherlands goalkeeper Stanley Menzo as the club's new Director of Football.

The appointment, announced on Monday, forms part of the club’s long-term strategy to strengthen its technical leadership, modernise football operations and return the Porcupine Warriors to the top of Ghanaian and African football.
Menzo, 62, arrives in Kumasi with an impressive football background spanning playing, coaching and football administration across Europe, Africa and Asia.
The Dutchman spent a decade with Ajax, making more than 300 appearances and winning multiple major honours. He was also part of the Ajax side that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1987 and the UEFA Cup in 1992. At international level, Menzo represented the Netherlands and featured at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy.
Following his playing career, he built an extensive coaching and management résumé, working with clubs including Volendam, Cambuur, Lierse, Ajax Cape Town and Beijing Guoan. He also managed Aruba and Suriname and served as goalkeeping coach of the Netherlands national team under Marco van Basten.
According to the club, Menzo will oversee the overall football direction of Asante Kotoko, including technical strategy, player recruitment and retention, youth development and the alignment of the academy and senior teams under a unified football philosophy.
He will also be responsible for all technical matters at the club until the appointment of a substantive head coach.
Speaking after his appointment, Menzo described the move as an honour and expressed his desire to work closely with the technical team, players and supporters to build a successful future for the club.
Kotoko believe his experience and international network will play a key role in the club’s rebuilding process ahead of the new season.
