Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in CAF Women’s Champions League qualifier

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies began their CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas on Monday.

Gloria Adomako scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute, heading home a well-delivered cross to put Ampem Darkoa ahead.

ASEC Mimosas managed to come in strong after the interval in search of an equaliser, but Ampem Darkoa’s defence remained organised to protect their lead.

The Ghanaian champions held on until the final whistle to secure an important three points in their opening qualifying fixture.

Goalkeeper Rose Baah played a key role in the victory, producing a composed display to keep ASEC at bay. She was eventually named Player of the Match.

The result gives the Ghana champions an early boost as they bid to progress through the qualifying tournament and secure a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
