Aisha Huang case: I haven’t changed my mind about your bail– Judge

The court denied the galamsey queen bail when she appeared in Monday, 24 October 2022.

The Deputy Attorney General, Diana Asona Dapaah, told the court that the AG’s office has not been able to file all disclosures in the case.

She disclosed that the Registry was working on it and therefore requested that the court grant them time to finish filing the processes.

The appeal for bail, requested by the lawyers for the galamsey queen, was denied by the Judge.

The Judge indicated that he had not changed his mind about the bail application until there is an unreasonable delay in the case.

The Judge noted that he had been informed about the Chinese Interpreter’s travel outside Ghana and directed the Registrar to put in place measures for another interpreter during the next sitting.

He also directed the prosecution to file their second batch of witness statements and serve the defence four days ahead of the next sitting.

The case has since been adjourned to Wednesday, 2 November 2022.

Ms Huang and three others, who are accused of engaging in illegal mining and the sale of minerals without a licence, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
