2026/27 Ghana Premier League: Week 6 Match Preview – Medeama SC vs Heart of Lions

The Mauve and Yellow have enjoyed a strong opening to their title defence, overcoming a slow start that saw them draw their first two matches to win their next three in succession. Their latest victory came last weekend, when they secured a hard-fought 1-0 away win over newly promoted Debibi United FC.

Medeama currently lead the league with 11 points from five matches, having scored a league-best nine goals and conceded just four. They have also won both of their home fixtures this season and will be determined to maintain that perfect record in Tarkwa.

However, Heart of Lions make the long journey to Tarkwa with renewed confidence after recording consecutive league victories for the first time since November 2025. The Kpando-based side followed up their previous win with an entertaining 3-2 victory over FC Ashanti Gold’04 last Sunday.

The result extended their impressive recent run to two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five league outings. With eight points, they currently sit seventh on the table and will see Sunday’s encounter as an opportunity to make a statement against the defending champions.

Heart of Lions have also shown signs of improvement on the road. Their dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Young Apostles in their previous away fixture ended a 17-match league winless streak away from home, a run stretching back through seven draws and 10 defeats.

Medeama will be seeking to strengthen their recent home record against the Kpando side. In their last three Premier League meetings in Tarkwa since the 2023/24 season, the champions have recorded one win, one draw and one defeat.
