2025/26 Ghana Premier League: Week 4 Match Report- Asante Kotoko 0-0 Heart of Lions

Asante Kotoko’s much-anticipated return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ended in frustration as they were held to a goalless draw by league leaders Heart of Lions on Sunday.

Playing at their traditional home for the first time in months, the Porcupine Warriors were eager to crown the occasion with a win. However, Bashir Hayford’s Lions once again showed the resilience and tactical discipline that have made them early-season pace-setters, taking a valuable point to remain unbeaten after four matches.

Clear-cut chances were few, but Kotoko striker Albert Amoah came closest to scoring with an audacious bicycle kick in the 26th minute that rattled the crossbar – a moment that drew gasps from the home crowd but didn’t count as a shot on target. Lions, who dominated possession, also felt aggrieved late on when their penalty appeal was waved away by referee Charles Bulu.

While Lions enjoyed greater control of the ball, Kotoko looked more threatening in attack, registering six attempts to their opponents’ four. Coach Karim Zito, celebrating his birthday, would have hoped for a better gift, but his side’s lack of cutting edge in the final third left them settling for a point.

Kotoko now turn their attention to an outstanding fixture against Bibiani GoldStars before facing Hearts of Oak and Basake Holy Stars, as they prepare for their CAF Confederation Cup clash with Wydad Casablanca.

Meanwhile, Heart of Lions stay top of the Premier League table, one point clear of Medeama, and will next host Berekum Chelsea in Kpando.
