NRCC Committed To Monitoring Dev’t Projects and Programmes – Regional Minister

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, has given Development Partners an assurance that the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) is committed to ensuring the effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of all development projects and programmes in the region.

According to him, this effort will make sure that such interventions conform to specifications in order to mitigate the overall wellbeing of the over two million people living in the region.

“We assure all our Development Partners and Donor Agencies that, the NRCC is committed to ensuring the effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of all development projects and programmes to make sure they conform to specifications for the overall wellbeing of the over 2.5 million people of the region.”

The Minister noted that the priority areas centre on Health, Education, Agriculture as well as Security and reiterated that the NRCC is determined to work hard in addressing the challenges that engulf these areas.

In his address during a meeting of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemlies (MMDAs), Development Partners, Donor Agencies among other stakeholders in Tamale on Tuesday (19th September 2023), Mr. Shaibu further charged officials of the implementing agencies in the region to bring on board their rich experiences and proffer workable ideas that will help attain the full benefit of the meeting.

The Minister underscored the importance of the forum and indicated it is vital to enable the NRCC together with its various MMDAs and Development Partner’s harness and maximize the opportunities associated with effective and efficient coordination to appreciate better the importance associated with working through the existing local government structures and key stakeholders.

“The coordination meetings will again bring about the sharing of innovative ideas to promote best practices and a holistic approach to tackling the gaps and challenges associated with the implementation of developmental projects and programmes across the region by Government, Donor Agencies and, other implementing partners” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, at the end of deliberations, the meeting is expected to result into the development of an annual assessment plan for MMDAs in the region on the critical and emerging issues in various sectors.

According to the Regional Minister, this is to ensure that MMDAs work effectively and efficiently to utilize resources assigned them to improve upon the lives of the good people of the region.

Meanwhile, the Development Partners and Civil Society Organization in their various presentations welcomed the initiative and reiterated their commitment to mainstream some of the issues discussed into some of their future programs and interventions especially in areas of child protection, climate change, peace and security, education and health among others.
