VRA/NEDCO announces three-day power rotation in Sunyani

The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have announced a temporary load management schedule for the Sunyani area following a breakdown of GRIDCo’s power transformer.

VRA and NEDCo in a statement issued on Wednesday January 21 noted that the schedule is intended to manage electricity demand until the fault is repaired and both transformers are restored to normal operation.

The load management plan affects three groups of areas as follows:

Group 1: Nana Bosoma Market, Newtown, Estate, Baakoniaba, Asufufu, Wawasua, Nanketwa, Municipal, Town Centre, Zinco, Airport, part of UENR, St. Mary’s, and surrounding communities.

Group 2: Abesim Estate, Tanoso, Yamfo, Susuanso, GWCL, Abesim, Mayfair, Nkwabeng North, Odumase, Pastoral Penkwase, Syn. NMTC, and surrounding communities.

Group 3: Nimpong, STU, GETfund, Magazine, SUSEC, Dr. Berko, St. James, Glamossay, Nkrankrom, Fiapre, Dumasua, Mantukwa, Ayakomaso, Nsoatre, and surrounding communities.

Load Management Schedule

Day 1 (January 21, 2026)

* 6AM–2PM: Group 2
* 2PM–10PM: Group 1
* 10PM–6AM: Group 3

Day 2 (January 22, 2026)

* 6AM–2PM: Group 1
* 2PM–10PM: Group 3
* 10PM–6AM: Group 2

Day 3 (January 23, 2026)

* 6AM–2PM: Group 3
* 2PM–10PM: Group 2
* 10PM–6AM: Group 1

The schedule indicates the time each group will have electricity supply during the load management period.
